A tragic shooting erupted early Sunday morning, June 1, during a party at a residence in Mountain View, North Carolina, leaving one person dead and 11 others injured, local authorities confirmed.
Gunfire Erupts at Party with 100+ Attendees
At around 12:45 a.m., the Hickory Police Department responded to a report of multiple people shot at a home on Walnut Acres Drive, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
“Deputies arrived to find multiple people had been shot and began rendering aid,” said Major Aaron Turk during a press conference.
Officials estimate that more than 100 people were present when one or more shooters opened fire, turning a celebration into a chaotic and deadly scene.

“We don’t have an exact suspect count,” Turk stated, “but more than one person was involved.”
Authorities say the shooting spilled from the house into the street, the backyard, and even a neighbor’s yard, suggesting a fast-moving and targeted attack.
