50 Cent shared his unfiltered thoughts on the current state of female rap and weighed in on the recent legal accusations against Jay-Z and Diddy during a recent interview.
Critique of Female Rap Scene
When asked about female rap today, 50 Cent expressed concern over what he sees as an overemphasis on sexuality in the genre. “I just want someone to break that’s not selling box,” he joked, referring to the way many female rappers present their music and image.
He elaborated, “I think this might be damaging to female culture. While my music has sexual innuendos, they’re more overt with it, and that can influence how women are perceived in society.”
Although he described the music as “fun,” 50 Cent critiqued it for lacking substance. His comments highlight an ongoing debate about the balance between empowerment and oversexualization in female rap.
On Allegations Against Jay-Z and Diddy
During the interview, 50 Cent also addressed the ongoing legal drama involving Jay-Z and Diddy. When asked about Jay-Z, he noted, “That was interesting. I was saying things not knowing exactly what I was saying. I was going like, ‘Where’s Jay at? He’s mad quiet’ while the Puffy thing was going on. But it’s obvious now that his team was being made aware that he was in those allegations also. I hope it works out because with the family, the things that go on internally, those accusations are crazy.”
As for Diddy, who is facing multiple lawsuits and preparing for a sex trafficking and racketeering trial in May 2025, 50 Cent admitted he was shocked but not entirely surprised. “I was as surprised as everyone else hearing these claims, but I had a feeling that the mogul partook in these doings prior to the case filings,” he said.
A Candid Perspective
50 Cent’s comments reflect his trademark directness and willingness to address controversial topics. While his critique of female rap has sparked conversation about the genre’s direction, his remarks on the allegations against Jay-Z and Diddy shed light on how the entertainment world is grappling with these legal issues.
