50 Cent Commends NFL for Sticking with JAY-Z and Roc Nation
50 Cent has weighed in on the NFL’s decision to continue its partnership with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation despite the sexual assault lawsuit against the rapper. Known for his often unfiltered commentary, the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ star offered rare praise for the league, calling the move “good news.”
In an Instagram post, 50 Cent wrote, “This [is] good news the NFL is gonna hold it down [football emoji]. Super Bowl is gonna be popping.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Addresses the Allegations
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the league is standing by Roc Nation and JAY-Z, citing the rapper’s strong denial of the allegations. “We’re aware of the civil allegations and JAY-Z’s really strong response to that,” Goodell said in a statement. “We know the litigation is happening now, so from our standpoint, our relationship is not changing with them, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”
Goodell also highlighted Roc Nation’s broader contributions to the league, including their role in social justice initiatives. “I think they’re getting incredibly comfortable with not just the Super Bowl but other events they’ve advised us on and helped us with. They’ve been a big help in the social justice area to us on many occasions. They’ve been great partners,” he added.
JAY-Z’s Partnership and Allegations Under Scrutiny
The NFL recently renewed its partnership with Roc Nation, which began in 2019 under a $25 million agreement spanning five years. The terms of the renewed deal have not been disclosed, but Goodell described the collaboration as a “mutually positive relationship.”
However, JAY-Z’s role has come under scrutiny due to a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a teenager at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Initially filed in October, the lawsuit also named Diddy as a defendant before the Roc Nation founder was identified as “Celebrity A.”
In response, JAY-Z issued a rare public statement through Roc Nation, vehemently denying the claims and accusing the plaintiff’s lawyer of attempting to “blackmail” him. He called the allegations “a complete fraud.”
Looking Ahead
With the NFL and Roc Nation moving forward in their partnership, preparations for the next Super Bowl remain on track. As the league maintains its commitment to working with JAY-Z’s company, the controversy surrounding the allegations serves as a reminder of the complex interplay between business partnerships and public scrutiny.
