After revealing his cancer diagnosis, Randy Moss made a surprise appearance at the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, February 6.
Moss Presents the Comeback Player of the Year Award
During the awards ceremony, Moss appeared virtually to present the Comeback Player of the Year award. Though unable to attend in person, he took a moment to express his gratitude to those who have supported him during his health battle.
“I’m sorry I could not be there in person to join you all, but I want to send a special thank you to all of my doctors, my beautiful wife, my children, my family, my teammates, and all of the prayer warriors out there,” Moss said. “We are Mossing cancer and I cannot wait to get back on television with all my guys.”
Sporting a Team Moss beanie and sweatshirt, Moss was energetic on camera and received a thunderous applause from the audience.
Moss Shares His Cancer Journey
In December, Moss first revealed his cancer diagnosis. Taking to Instagram Live, he shared an update on his health journey, captioning the post “Let’s Moss Cancer”, signifying his determination to fight and come out victorious.
“I’ve told you all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally and your boy is a cancer survivor,” he announced.
Moss Opens Up About His Diagnosis & Surgery
Providing more details, Moss revealed that he underwent surgery and had been hospitalized for nearly a week.
“So I did have cancer,” he disclosed. “They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver, and the cancer was sitting right outside the bile duct.”
Reflecting on the challenging experience, Moss shared his appreciation for the medical team and his supporters.
“It was a trying week, a trying time. So once again, I thank you all,” he said. “Thank you and your team for nursing me back to health and getting me back here with my family.”
