FDC Nominates Kalifah AgaNaga for Kawempe North By-Election – Musician Eyes Political Seat!

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially nominated musician Kalifah AgaNaga as their flag bearer for the upcoming Kawempe North by-election.

The announcement was made on Wednesday at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, marking a significant political milestone for the artist-turned-politician.

AgaNaga Enters the Political Arena

With this nomination, Kalifah AgaNaga now shifts his focus to political aspirations, joining a competitive race to replace the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya in the Kawempe North parliamentary seat.

The seat became vacant following the passing of Hon. Ssegirinya on 9th January 2025. The by-election is expected to attract several candidates, making it one of the most closely-watched races in Uganda’s political landscape.

Not AgaNaga’s First Political Attempt

This is not Kalifah AgaNaga’s first foray into politics. In the 2021 general elections, he contested for the Rubaga South parliamentary seat, running as an independent candidate. However, he was unsuccessful, losing to National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Aloysius Mukasa.

Despite his previous loss, AgaNaga remains determined to make an impact in Uganda’s political sphere. His latest nomination under FDC could provide a stronger platform and increased political backing as he vies for leadership in Kawempe North.

Final Thoughts

As Kalifah AgaNaga transitions from the entertainment industry to politics, his candidacy is expected to spark conversations within both political and music circles. With the by-election approaching, the race for Kawempe North MP will be an intense and closely followed contest.
