Martin Kove, best known as the no-mercy sensei John Kreese from The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, is throwing his full support behind Sylvester Stallone’s latest role—Hollywood ambassador under former President Donald Trump. The legendary actor believes that Hollywood has lost its creative spark by becoming too political, and he’s confident that Stallone is the right man to bring back the industry’s golden days.
Hollywood Needs a Hero—Enter ‘Rambo’
Speaking with TMZ at LAX, Kove expressed his enthusiasm for Stallone’s new position, saying that if anyone can restore Hollywood’s artistic sensibility, it’s the man who brought Rocky and Rambo to life.
“Who better than Sly to sweep Hollywood’s leg and bring back real storytelling?” Kove quipped, referencing his iconic Cobra Kai character’s ruthless philosophy.
A Hollywood Takeover?
Alongside Stallone, actors Jon Voight and Mel Gibson were also tapped for the role, and Kove believes they have the experience and vision to refocus the industry on entertainment rather than divisive politics.
However, Kove also admitted that this year’s Academy Awards showed some improvement, noting that the ceremony wasn’t as politically charged as in previous years. He sees this as a step in the right direction but insists there’s still work to be done.
Cobra Kai May Be Ending, But Kove’s Not Slowing Down
Beyond Hollywood politics, Kove shared his bittersweet feelings about Cobra Kai wrapping up after six seasons. While he’s sad to say goodbye to John Kreese, he’s got plenty of projects lined up—including a new film and a comic book collaboration with his son.
For Kove, slowing down isn’t an option. And when it comes to Hollywood’s future, he’s ready to back Stallone’s fight to bring back the magic of moviemaking.
