Will Smith is making a long-awaited return to rap, dropping his first full-length album in 20 years. Titled ‘Based On A True Story’, the 14-track project features Teyana Taylor, social media star B. Simone, and his longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff. The album is set to release on March 28.
While Smith has remained tight-lipped about the project, the cover art gives fans a nod to his Philadelphia roots, showing him repping Philadelphia Phillies gear. His last album, Lost and Found (2005), included the hit single “Switch”, which peaked at No.6 on the Billboard 200 and earned gold certification from the RIAA.
Will Smith Joins Doechii’s Viral “Anxiety” Challenge
Beyond music, Will Smith is also staying on top of viral trends. On March 13, he surprised fans by hopping on Doechii’s “Anxiety” challenge—a TikTok trend where users vibe to the eerie line “Somebody’s watchin’ me, it’s my anxiety”.
In his version, Smith stares into a mirror before his reflection morphs into Doechii, creating an unsettling yet cinematic effect. The actor also credited influencer Brooke Monk for starting the trend.
The challenge has seen a wave of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air edits, particularly the famous scene where Will catches Ashley Banks dancing and joins in. With Smith now joining the fun, the trend is only getting bigger!
