NFL Hall of Famer and media personality Shannon Sharpe has been hit with a bombshell lawsuit accusing him of multiple instances of rape and abuse—with the alleged victim seeking over $50 million in damages.
Allegations of a Violent, Controlling Relationship
The lawsuit, filed in Nevada on Sunday and obtained by TMZ Sports, comes from a woman identified as Jane Doe. She claims the former Denver Broncos tight end sexually assaulted her several times between late 2024 and early 2025, following what she describes as a long-term, controlling, and abusive relationship.
According to court documents, Doe met Sharpe in 2023 at a Los Angeles gym when she was 20 years old and he was in his mid-50s. She alleges their relationship began under troubling circumstances—claiming Sharpe offered to “buy her fake breasts” if she won a weight-loss challenge he proposed.
From there, Doe says Sharpe relentlessly pursued her with calls and texts, eventually pushing her into a relationship that quickly became toxic and manipulative.
“He demanded complete control over her time and body,” Doe’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, wrote in the complaint.
She claims Sharpe expected her to be available at his command, and she endured frequent verbal abuse, intimidation, and fear—including an incident where he allegedly threatened her life while visibly armed.
Two Alleged Rapes Described in Detail
Despite numerous red flags, the relationship continued and eventually moved to Nevada in mid-2024. However, Doe says things escalated after Sharpe’s infamous Instagram Live incident, which she claims prompted her to try ending the relationship.
That’s when she alleges the first rape occurred — in October 2024 at her apartment. She says Sharpe forced himself on her as she sobbed in distress.
The second alleged assault happened in January 2025, when Sharpe reportedly came to her home under the pretense of dropping off Christmas and birthday gifts. Instead, she claims, he violently raped her again.
Seeking Justice: $50 Million Lawsuit Filed
Jane Doe is seeking more than $50 million in damages, citing emotional trauma, physical abuse, and long-term psychological damage.
“It takes a great deal of courage to stand up against those with power, fame and money,” Buzbee stated. “I look forward to pressing this case in court.”
No Response Yet from Sharpe
As of now, Shannon Sharpe has not responded publicly to the allegations. Repeated attempts to reach him for comment have gone unanswered.
Sharpe, known for his NFL career and recent media work—including the popular show Nightcap—has not been criminally charged at this time. The case is ongoing and developing.
