Former President Donald Trump has offered heartfelt condolences following the death of Pope Francis, calling him a man who “loved the world” and “worked hard for peace.”
Speaking during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday morning, Trump opened his remarks by acknowledging the Pope’s passing, which occurred earlier that day.

Trump honored Pope Francis by signing an executive order mandating all federal and state flags across the United States be flown at half-staff, a traditional gesture of national mourning.
“He was a good man who loved the world,” Trump said during his speech. “May God bless him and all who loved him.”
