The controversy surrounding Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, just got even messier — and this time, criticism is coming from inside the family.
Jennifer Schmitt, who is married to Belichick’s son, Stephen Belichick, publicly slammed Hudson’s behavior during the now-viral CBS interview, where Hudson appeared to interrupt and later storm off set as Belichick spoke with journalist Tony Dokoupil.
Schmitt didn’t mince words in her assessment. Under a social media post that featured former Patriots stars Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski defending Hudson’s actions, Jennifer made her disapproval clear in the comment section.
Responding to comedian Nikki Glaser — who supported Edelman and Gronk’s take that Hudson’s behavior was similar to that of Belichick’s past publicists — Schmitt clapped back:
“Publicists act in a professional manner,” she wrote. “And don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview.”
It was a sharp and public rebuke that added another layer of drama to a situation that’s already sparked headlines for days. Soon after leaving her comment, Jennifer made her Instagram account private — though not before screenshots of her criticism circulated online.
Belichick Stands by His Girlfriend
Despite the backlash, the 72-year-old NFL icon has remained loyal to Hudson, 24. In a statement issued Wednesday, Belichick insisted Hudson was only trying to protect his boundaries during the interview — especially after he’d allegedly informed CBS producers he wanted to stick strictly to subjects related to his new book, The Art Of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.
“She only stepped in after I reiterated my desire to focus solely on the book,” Belichick said in his defense of Hudson.
However, CBS offered a different version of events, stating that no such restrictions were agreed upon beforehand. The network maintained that Belichick was aware all aspects of his career and personal life could come up in the interview.
Hudson Draws Mixed Reactions
Hudson’s conduct has been polarizing. Supporters, like Edelman and Gronkowski, said her involvement resembled that of a protective publicist. Edelman even remarked that she was “just doing her job.” But others saw her actions — including a dramatic exit from the set — as unprofessional and out of place.
With Hudson now facing criticism from Belichick’s own family, it remains to be seen how the public and the media will continue to respond. One thing is certain: when it comes to Bill Belichick, even off the field, the drama continues to follow.
