It seems even after their split, Kyle Richards still looks to Mauricio Umansky for help when things get hairy — or in this case, scaly. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star recently found herself in a full-blown snake crisis at her Palm Springs home, and naturally, she called her ex-husband for backup.
But, as Mauricio told TMZ outside celebrity hotspot Craig’s in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, he wasn’t exactly in a position to come to the rescue.
Snake Drama Goes Viral
The viral TikTok video that captured Kyle’s panicked reaction as she spotted the snake slithering inside her home had fans buzzing. She reportedly called Mauricio mid-crisis — clearly still viewing him as the go-to guy when emergencies arise.
Despite the urgency in Kyle’s voice during the call, Mauricio admitted he was nowhere near Palm Springs at the time and couldn’t come to her aid. Still, his tone suggested that if he had been closer, he would’ve rushed over in a heartbeat.
“She called me in full freak-out mode,” he shared. “But I was far away, unfortunately.”
Does Kyle Still Lean on Mauricio for “Manly Duties”?
When asked if Kyle still calls him for other traditional “manly tasks” around the house — think fixing stuff, lifting heavy things, or handling pests — Mauricio dodged the question but didn’t shy away from showering Kyle with praise.
He made it clear there’s no bad blood between them, and their relationship, though changed, remains grounded in love and mutual respect.
“We still care about each other deeply,” he said, adding that he’s always just a call away if she really needs him.
Snake Saved by the Real Hero: Animal Control
While Mauricio wasn’t able to jump in as Kyle’s knight in shining armor this time, the real MVP of the situation turned out to be Animal Control, who responded to the call and safely removed the snake from the premises.
Kyle’s followers flooded her social media with support — and a few laughs — over the dramatic snake saga. Some even joked that the snake was a metaphor for drama slithering back into her life.
Bottom Line:
Even though Mauricio and Kyle are no longer together romantically, their bond remains strong — and it’s heartwarming to see that she still considers him her first call in times of crisis. The couple’s dynamic may have shifted, but their long-standing connection and co-parenting friendship clearly remain intact.
As for the snake? It’s long gone, thanks to the professionals. But Kyle might want to keep Animal Control on speed dial — or maybe convince Mauricio to move a little closer to Palm Springs!
