Reality TV star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, known for his role on Jersey Shore, has shared his perspective on the recent presidential pardons granted to fellow reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley. Despite serving his own prison sentence for tax evasion, Sorrentino expresses no resentment towards the Chrisleys’ early release, emphasizing the importance of second chances.

Reflecting on His Own Experience

Sorrentino served an eight-month prison sentence in 2019 after pleading guilty to tax evasion charges. He was also ordered to pay $123,913 in restitution and a $10,000 fine, along with completing 500 hours of community service . Despite these challenges, he has maintained a positive outlook, crediting his time in prison with helping him become a better person.

Sympathy for the Chrisley Family

In a recent interview, Sorrentino expressed empathy for the Chrisley family, acknowledging the emotional toll of having loved ones incarcerated. “It’s detrimental to have a relative behind bars—let alone two—and that the entire family serves the sentence, not just the ones doing the time,” he stated.

Understanding the Pardons

While some may question the fairness of the Chrisleys’ full and unconditional pardons, Sorrentino chooses not to dwell on it. “I have served my time… and I see someone else that got a full unconditional pardon… you gotta stay in your own lane and run your own race—I am happy for the family,” he remarked.

The Chrisleys’ Legal Journey

Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted in 2022 on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion, resulting in a combined 19-year prison sentence . However, after serving just over two years, they received full pardons from President Donald Trump in May 2025 .

Return to Reality TV

Following their release, the Chrisley family is set to return to television with a new docuseries on Lifetime, tentatively titled The Untitled Chrisleys Project . The show aims to provide an intimate look into their lives post-incarceration.

Sorrentino’s Support for Second Chances

Sorrentino, who has been open about his own struggles and redemption, supports the Chrisleys’ decision to share their story. “I’m a huge believer in second chances,” he said, suggesting that the Chrisleys can use their newfound freedom to right their wrongs and inspire others.
