Pop legend Mariah Carey just gave fans a major reason to celebrate—her new album is officially done and on the way.
During a special interview celebrating Apple Music’s 10th anniversary with Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, Mariah kept details under wraps but dropped enough hints to send anticipation soaring.
“I’m trying not to tell too much about the new album,” she teased.
“It’s a special occasion / Mimi’s emancipation — that’s a lyric from one of my songs. What is next? The album is coming out.”
🎶 A Deep Dive Into ‘Type Dangerous’
The announcement followed the release of her latest single, ‘Type Dangerous,’ which Mariah describes as a “heavy record” with real emotional weight.
The track creatively samples the iconic 1986 hip-hop classic “Eric B. Is President” by Eric B. and Rakim—a nod to a favorite she stumbled upon during a casual moment in Aspen.
“I’ve always loved ‘Eric B. Is President,’” Mariah shared.
“It wasn’t something like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna flip this’ — I just wouldn’t think of doing it. But then we were in this restaurant, and they played it. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! I love this song!’ We ended up in the studio a couple months later and we did it.”
🎤 What to Expect From the New Album
Mariah revealed the album will feature around 11 to 12 songs, including her signature soulful ballads and fresh sounds.
She also hinted at a second single coming soon, describing it as:
“Very summery. I like the beat as well.”
🗓️ The Countdown Begins
While Mariah remains tight-lipped on an official release date, fans are eagerly awaiting the full project—set to add another dazzling chapter to her multi-Grammy-winning career.
