Slim Shady hits the green!
Eminem has traded bars for birdies—if only for a moment—in the newly released Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix. The rap legend makes a blink-and-you’ll-scream appearance in the Adam Sandler sequel as the grown-up son of Donald, the chaotic heckler who terrorized Happy in the original 1996 comedy.
And yes—he’s every bit as wild and unhinged as his dad.
🎤 From Detroit to the Sand Trap
In a recent sit-down on The Dan Patrick Show, Sandler opened up about how Eminem’s surprise cameo came to life, revealing that while the two are longtime friends, he wasn’t sure Marshall Mathers would even entertain the idea.
“I have immense respect for Eminem. We’re friends, but I didn’t want to intrude on his life,” Sandler said. “People kept suggesting him for the part, but I didn’t want to bother him—he’s in Detroit, making music, living peacefully.”
Eventually, Sandler picked up the phone—and to his shock, Em was totally down.
“He said, ‘Hell yeah, let’s do it.’ He flew out, crushed his scene, and was hilarious. The crew couldn’t believe it.”
🔙 A Friendship Born in 1999
Sandler and Eminem’s unexpected bromance actually dates back over two decades. The Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison star remembered their first meeting at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in 1999—when Em was the musical guest, and Dr. Dre was by his side.
“Marshall walked past our table, and we just had this cool moment. He knew me as Bobby Boucher, and I was like, ‘Yo, Slim Shady!’ It was instant respect.”
That moment sparked a connection that would eventually lead to Happy Gilmore 2—and one of the movie’s most talked-about cameos.
🎬 What to Expect from Happy Gilmore 2
Streaming now on Netflix, Happy Gilmore 2 reunites fan-favorite cast members including Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and of course, Sandler himself as the hockey-loving golf misfit.
But it’s the fresh faces that bring the comedy sequel into 2025:
- Ben Stiller (reviving his sadistic nurse persona from Happy Gilmore)
- Benny Safdie as a cutthroat sports agent
- Bad Bunny in a role that’s being kept under wraps
- Professional golfers like Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and Scottie Scheffler playing hilariously arrogant versions of themselves
Still, it’s Eminem’s cameo that’s dominating headlines.
“He came in, improvised some lines, and nailed it on the first take,” Sandler shared. “It’s everything you’d expect from Eminem in a golf movie—and more.”
🏌️♂️ A Perfectly Tee’d-Up Surprise
Happy Gilmore 2 might have been years in the making, but the moment Eminem hits the screen—it’s pure viral gold. Fans are already taking to social media to dissect his performance, quote his lines, and beg for more Slim Shady in comedy.
Whether it’s music or movies, Eminem knows how to steal the spotlight—and this cameo is no exception.
