Nollywood actor Frederick Leonard has dismissed rumors of a crisis in his marriage to Peggy Ovire, urging critics and bloggers to stay out of their personal lives.

Speculation about cracks in their union began after Peggy shared Christmas-themed photos without Frederick’s presence. Adding fuel to the fire, an Instagram blog alleged that the couple was experiencing marital issues due to Frederick’s alleged behavior on movie sets, including cheating and disrespecting his wife.

Frederick Leonard Responds

In a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, Leonard set the record straight, making it clear that their marriage is private and not subject to public scrutiny. He emphasized that neither he nor his wife owes anyone an explanation about their relationship.

“Leave me and my wife’s name out of your contaminated blogs. This marriage IS NOT YOUR BUSINESS. What goes on in this marriage will not make your lives better or put food on your table,” he wrote.

He also addressed some of the specific criticisms, stating:

  • “Marriage is not slavery! She can post Christmas photos without me in it. She can rest her fingers and not wear her ring. I bought the ring, and I’m not complaining.”
  • “She can go on vacation without me. IT’S NOT YOUR BUSINESS.”
  • “She can wear short dresses because she’s a stunning woman, and the bush ones amongst you will BE ALRIGHT.”

No Changes to His Acting Career

Leonard also clarified that his professional commitments, including kissing scenes in movies, would not change because of his marriage. He emphasized that his wife supports his career, and critics should stop projecting their expectations onto their relationship.

A United Front

Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire have become one of Nollywood’s most admired couples since tying the knot. Despite the ongoing rumors, their unified responses suggest that they remain committed to each other and unfazed by external pressures.

A Message to Critics

Leonard ended his post with a strong message for critics, highlighting the misplaced energy on social media:

“Beyond bad leadership, poverty is at an all-time high because stupidity is on the increase, and people are channeling their energy and attention wrongly. Y’all should LEAVE US ALONE!”
