The mystery surrounding the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas continues to deepen — and the LAPD may be holding a key piece of evidence that could crack the case wide open.
According to TMZ, investigators have seized hours of surveillance footage from multiple cameras installed around singer D4vd’s Hollywood Hills rental home, where police suspect Rivas may have been before her tragic death.
A Potential Breakthrough in the Investigation
The property’s owner, Malden Trifunovic, confirmed that authorities collected all external video recordings while executing a search warrant last month. He told TMZ that those cameras would’ve captured anyone entering or exiting the residence — a crucial detail that could reveal if Celeste was ever at the home, and who else might have been there.
However, Trifunovic says he’s never seen the footage himself. For privacy reasons, he didn’t maintain access to the surveillance system while D4vd was renting the house. He’s since requested a copy of the search warrant and an inventory of what was taken from the property — but so far, the LAPD hasn’t responded.
Private Investigator Joins the Case
Frustrated by the silence from law enforcement, the homeowner has hired a private investigator to conduct an independent probe into Celeste’s death. He told reporters the P.I. is still in the early stages and has “nothing to share yet,” but hopes to uncover new leads that could help the Rivas family find closure.
Unanswered Questions — and Growing Pressure
It’s been nearly six weeks since Celeste’s remains were discovered in D4vd’s impounded Tesla, which was parked just a block from the rental home. The shocking discovery — reportedly involving dismembered remains — has raised serious questions about what happened to the young girl and how long she had been dead before being found.
Friends in D4vd’s circle told TMZ that they believed Celeste was 19 years old and a student at USC, not realizing she was only 14. Those same acquaintances said the pair often appeared as a couple.
Since the discovery, D4vd has withdrawn from public life — canceling his tour, halting the deluxe release of his album Withered, and moving out of the Hollywood Hills home. He’s also remained completely silent on social media.
A Frustrating Standstill
So far, the LAPD hasn’t named any suspects or even persons of interest. Sources say the case is being slowed down by the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office, which is still working to determine Celeste’s official cause of death — a crucial factor before any criminal charges can be filed.
The singer’s attorney has not publicly commented, and the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office confirmed earlier this week that the case has not yet been formally handed over for review.
A Community Demanding Answers
Celeste’s family, who reported her missing in early 2024 from her Lake Elsinore home, continues to plead for transparency and justice. Their daughter’s disappearance and death — coupled with her alleged relationship with an older music star — has drawn national attention and sparked outrage online.
While authorities remain tight-lipped, the discovery of those surveillance videos could finally help piece together what really happened in the final days of Celeste Rivas’s life — and whether D4vd, or anyone in his inner circle, knows more than they’re letting on.
