From the gridiron to the poker table — and now, to throwing real punches.
Retired NFL icon Adrian Peterson was caught in a violent fistfight at a Houston card club, and the wild brawl was all captured on video obtained by TMZ Sports.
The former Minnesota Vikings running back, known for his explosive plays on the field, found himself in a different kind of heat — this time inside JokerStars, a private poker lounge in Houston, Texas, on May 27.

In the footage, Peterson and another man — reportedly someone he knew — got into a heated exchange during a live poker game. What started as a dispute over a hand quickly escalated into a full-on fistfight.
“One thing led to another,” Peterson told TMZ, “and we squared up.”
The video shows:
- Peterson taking multiple punches to the face
- The two men locked in a flurry of blows
- A failed attempt by a bystander to break up the scuffle
- A final rush of haymakers thrown by Peterson as the fight spills against a back wall
Witnesses say both men walked away with bloody faces, and the video backs that up.
Peterson Speaks Out: “We’re Cool Now”
Despite the graphic footage, Peterson downplayed the fight in a statement:
“Me and the guy, we’re cool,” he said. “We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation.”
Peterson, 39, even claims his injury wasn’t from a punch, but rather from falling into a chair during the chaos. He also confirmed that alcohol was involved, but denied it was the root cause.
“We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows — and that was it.”
🚓 No Police, No Charges — Just Bruised Egos
Peterson told reporters police were never called to the scene, and JokerStars didn’t punish anyone involved.
So far, no criminal investigation is underway, and both men appear to have moved on — though fans are still trying to wrap their heads around the situation.
From NFL MVP to Celebrity Fighter — What Happened to AD?
Peterson, who retired after a legendary 15-year NFL career that saw him rush for over 14,000 yards, has dabbled in various ventures since hanging up his cleats.
In fact, this isn’t his first brush with physical confrontation post-football.
- In 2022, he stepped into the celebrity boxing ring to fight Le’Veon Bell.
- Now, he’s a regular at high-stakes poker events, often seen at spots like JokerStars.
So is this a one-time heat-of-the-moment thing — or a pattern?
