Kampala, Uganda – Airtel Uganda’s Managing Director, Mr. Soumendra Sahu, popularly known as Som, made a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Hon. George William Nyombi Tembo, this morning.
UCC Commends Airtel Uganda’s Compliance
Hon. Nyombi welcomed Mr. Sahu and assured him of UCC’s regulatory support as Airtel Uganda continues to deliver innovative ICT solutions to its customers and the public.
The Executive Director congratulated Airtel Uganda for its adherence to regulatory standards, as evidenced by the recent issuance of the 2024 Compliance Certificate. He emphasized UCC’s collaborative approach with licensees like Airtel to enhance access to ICT services, foster product innovation, and safeguard public interests.
Airtel Uganda’s Commitment to Innovation
In his remarks, Mr. Sahu expressed gratitude for the warm reception from UCC and Ugandans at large. He reaffirmed Airtel Uganda’s dedication to improving service delivery while maintaining compliance with regulatory obligations.
Highlighting Airtel’s global expertise, Mr. Sahu noted:
“We are committed to introducing innovative, world-class products and services tailored to meet the needs of Ugandan consumers.”
He also emphasized the importance of reducing communication costs by promoting the adoption of smartphones and terminal devices, a move he believes will accelerate Uganda’s socio-economic transformation through increased ICT adoption.
Call for Collaboration
Mr. Sahu called for continued collaboration between Airtel Uganda and UCC to further ICT penetration across the country, ensuring access to affordable communication tools for all Ugandans.
