August Alsina continues to challenge societal norms by opening up about his views on love and identity. During a recent appearance on Nick Cannon’s “Counsel Culture” podcast, the R&B singer expressed his refusal to conform to labels when it comes to who he loves.
“To be honest with you, bro, it’s not even me that’s opening my heart,” Alsina explained when asked about loving another man. “It’s that power that’s higher than myself. I always say that the greatest gift that God could have ever given me was exposure. To expose me to so many different kinds of people, places, things.”
He went on to elaborate, “When people want you to define yourself as gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever, love is much more complex than that and has much more depth. For me, because love is a language, I’m fluent in love when it speaks to me.”
This isn’t the first time Alsina has been candid about his experience with love. On a previous season of “Surreal Life,” the artist shared a deeply personal moment, introducing his rumored love interest to the world.
“I want to share that and really honour the person that I love and that loves me back, teaching me so much about love and healing,” he said during the show. “Because it defies all the constructs of what love is supposed to be or look like.”
Alsina emotionally revealed, “What do you know? Love showed up, but in a new way,” as his love interest appeared on camera, embracing him in a heartfelt moment.
With his open approach, Alsina inspires fans to view love as a boundless force that transcends traditional labels and definitions.
