Ugandan music producer Ayo Bassboi, born Michael Mulonde, is celebrating a major career milestone after being nominated for the prestigious 2025 African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA). Known for his exceptional talent and relentless work ethic, Ayo Bassboi has made a name for himself as one of Uganda’s finest audio producers.

Mastering the Craft: A Journey from Makindye to Global Recognition

Born on 24th October 1999, in Kampala, Ayo Bassboi began his musical journey at JahLive Studios in Makindye, where he honed his skills as an audio producer and sound engineer. Early in his career, he worked with local artists such as Kalifah AgaNaga on hits like “Muliro” featuring Olisha M and “Bulaya.”

Over the years, Bassboi has fine-tuned his craft, evolving into a versatile producer capable of creating chart-topping hits that resonate across Africa. His dedication and creativity have seen him collaborate with some of the continent’s biggest stars, producing music that has dominated charts and playlists.

By 2024, Ayo Bassboi was widely regarded as Uganda’s Producer of the Year, a title that cemented his status as a leading figure in the East African music scene. His work ethic and innovation continue to drive his success, and his streak has now earned him international recognition.

“I have been working so hard, tirelessly—no sleep. Doing international sounds, working with artists, songwriters, and sound engineers who believe in my craft. And most importantly, God,” he shared. This relentless pursuit of excellence has made Bassboi a standout figure in Uganda’s music scene and beyond.
