Bebe Cool Reveals Emotional Struggles During Separation from Wife Zuena Kirema
Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool has shared a deeply emotional chapter from his life, recalling the heartbreaking period when his wife, Zuena Kirema, left him for eight months. The pain from this separation led him to a point where he even contemplated leaving Uganda to start anew in the United States.
During this dark time, Bebe Cool faced intense emotional and physical struggles. “I was at the clinic silently for three weeks, and she even came and took care of me, but I was unconscious to even know,” Bebe Cool revealed. Despite the pain, he found solace in his music, pouring his heartache into his song “Agenze,” a heartfelt plea for Zuena’s return. The track quickly resonated with fans and became a major hit in Uganda.
Music as a Way of Healing and Farewell
As “Agenze” climbed the charts, Bebe Cool organized a concert at the Lugogo Rugby Grounds, which he saw not just as a performance but as a potential farewell. At the time, Bebe Cool had already begun making plans to leave Uganda, having processed his visa. “I had finished the visa process, and no one knew, not even my brother, that I was going to leave,” he shared.
The concert, which featured foreign artists, was meant to be a final goodbye to Uganda. But just as he was preparing to move on from everything, an unexpected call from Zuena changed the course of his life.
Zuena’s Call and a New Beginning
After the concert, as Bebe Cool awaited his balance payment, Zuena reached out. “She called me at around 4 o’clock. I was the one who left the house for her and the kids, so when she called, she told me to come home and bring my clothes,” Bebe Cool recalled. The call marked a turning point, as Zuena decided to reunite with her husband and family, preventing him from leaving Uganda for good.
Bebe Cool’s story serves as a testament to the strength of love, resilience, and the power of music to heal even the deepest wounds.
