Tragedy has struck the Outkast family. Antwan “Big Boi” Patton is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his uncle, Remoin Patton, who was killed in a senseless act of road rage last month in Georgia.
Now, police say two suspects have been arrested in connection to the deadly shooting that has left Big Boi and his loved ones reeling.
🚨 What Happened to Uncle Moonie?
On June 16, Atlanta police responded to reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Remoin Patton, affectionately known as “Uncle Moonie”, dead at the scene.
Investigators say Uncle Moonie was trying to make a turn when he got into a heated argument with another driver. That’s when the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him in the back.
After being struck, Uncle Moonie’s vehicle crashed into a vacant home nearby. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 62 years old.
🛑 Suspects Arrested
Jabyrion Crumbley Arrested for Murder
Authorities identified Jabyrion Crumbley as the suspected shooter. The 23-year-old turned himself in on Wednesday and is now facing charges including:
- Murder
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Crumbley is currently being held without bail at Fulton County Jail.
Janisha Crumbley Accused of Hindering Arrest
Four days after the shooting, Janisha Crumbley was also arrested for allegedly hindering the apprehension of a felon. She has since been released. Police have not confirmed the relationship between Jabyrion and Janisha.
🕊️ Big Boi’s Heartfelt Tribute to Uncle Moonie
Big Boi, who co-founded the legendary hip-hop group Outkast with André 3000, shared his grief in an emotional statement to Atlanta’s WSB-TV:
“Everybody who knows Uncle Moonie’s heart aches. He wasn’t just ‘my’ uncle, he was ‘Unk’ to all that met him. A moment of rage has totally pierced the heart of my family forever. May Uncle Moonie’s soul rest in peace.”
He also posted a touching video tribute on Instagram, captioning it:
