Patrick House — who won The Biggest Loser Season 10 — is speaking out after Netflix’s controversial documentary Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser … and he’s standing firmly in Jillian Michaels’ corner.
The 45-year-old reality star told TMZ he believes the doc didn’t portray Jillian fairly, and he has nothing but gratitude for the show that completely changed his life.
Patrick Credits ‘Biggest Loser’ With Saving His Life
House, who dropped a staggering amount of weight on the show, says he entered the competition as a “ticking time bomb” health-wise. Winning not only transformed his body but gave him the chance to build a new life — one with a wife, kids, and a second chance at living.
“The show saved my life,” Patrick admitted. “Without it, I don’t think I’d be here to watch my kids grow up.”
Jillian Michaels Under Fire — But Patrick Calls Foul
The Netflix documentary accuses Michaels and others of pushing contestants beyond safe limits — including rumors of caffeine pills being handed out behind the scenes. But Patrick says those claims don’t reflect his experience.
“No one ever offered me drugs,” he explained, adding that at most, he received a sodium bicarbonate supplement once. He says rooms were even checked regularly to make sure contestants weren’t sneaking anything that might aid weight loss.
In fact, Patrick recalls producers taking away his FiberOne bars during a routine room sweep.
The Caffeine Controversy
The doc suggests caffeine products were quietly used despite being “banned,” pointing to a leaked Biggest Loser grocery list. But Michaels herself has called BS, arguing the rules about caffeine constantly shifted and insisting she never gave contestants pills.
Patrick backs her up. “They painted Jillian in such a bad light just because she didn’t want to do an interview. That wasn’t fair,” he said.
Inside the Intense Calorie Pressure
Patrick also revealed that both Jillian and Bob Harper strongly encouraged contestants to stick to just 800 calories a day if they wanted to win. Sometimes, they were even told to fudge their food journals to cover up missed meals.
“I trusted Jillian and Bob so much that if they told me to eat 400 calories in a day, I would’ve done it,” he admitted.
Another Contestant Speaks Out
Patrick isn’t the only one defending Jillian. Fellow contestant David Fioravanti also told reporters that while he had clashes with the trainer, she never gave him pills. He admitted the show was grueling but says the doc sensationalized some of the claims.
Patrick’s Final Word
House declined to participate in the Netflix project because he didn’t trust how the narrative would be framed. But now that he’s seen it, he says one thing is clear: Jillian Michaels didn’t deserve the dragging.
“She pushed us hard, but she also believed in us,” Patrick said. “The documentary went too far in trying to make her the villain.”
