Dave Portnoy

In a shocking turn of events, the highly anticipated boxing match between former MLB star John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr. has been officially canceled—and according to Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy, Brittany Mahomes played a major role in shutting it down.

Portnoy dropped the bombshell during a Friday appearance on The Unnamed Show, claiming that both Brittany and Patrick Mahomes II’s agent intervened to put an end to the bout.

Brittany Mahomes and Mahomes’ Agent Allegedly Shut It Down

The fight, set to take place under Barstool Sports’ Rough N’ Rowdy promotion, was gaining traction after Mahomes Sr. and Rocker staged a fiery altercation on Bourbon Street during Super Bowl LIX week to hype the event. But just days later, Mahomes’ inner circle reportedly stepped in.

“Mahomes’ agent, the football player, and Brittany—from what I am told—intervened and were like, ‘There’s no way this fight’s happening,'” Portnoy revealed. “‘We’re going to cut this guy off if he does it.'”

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Mahomes Sr. had agreed to the fight on January 17, with a guaranteed payday of at least $85,000 for stepping into the ring. However, that lucrative deal has now evaporated.

Dave Portnoy Slams the Decision: “They Came to Us!”

A frustrated Portnoy made it clear that this wasn’t some random celebrity boxing idea Barstool cooked up—it was Mahomes Sr. and Rocker who pitched the matchup themselves.

“They came to us to do this,” Portnoy insisted. “How would we ever come up with this concept? Like, Oh, let’s put John Rocker vs. Pat Mahomes Sr. Like, who would ever think of that? They came to us and said they hated each other and wanted to fight.”

While neither Rocker nor Mahomes Sr. has publicly commented on the cancellation yet, given Rocker’s outspoken presence on X, a fiery response seems inevitable.

Brittany Mahomes’ Influence in the Mahomes Empire

Brittany Mahomes, already known for fiercely defending her husband against online criticism, is now being painted as a key figure in squashing this fight. Her growing influence within the Mahomes empire is undeniable—from handling public relations disasters to backing major business deals, she seems to be at the center of every major decision.

With Patrick Mahomes II leading the Kansas City Chiefs to dynasty-level success, it’s no surprise his camp would want to avoid any unnecessary distractions. But for fight fans and Barstool followers, this cancellation stings—especially after all the buzz surrounding it.

What Happens Next?

While the Mahomes vs. Rocker fight is officially dead, the controversy surrounding its cancellation is far from over. Will Rocker call out the Mahomes camp? Will Mahomes Sr. break his silence? And will Portnoy find a way to revive the matchup?

One thing’s for sure—this fight may never happen in the ring, but the drama outside of it is just getting started.
