Cleveland Browns defensive powerhouse Myles Garrett is known for his speed on the football field — but now, that speed has landed him in trouble off the field.
According to court records, the 29-year-old former NFL Defensive Player of the Year was cited early Saturday morning for allegedly driving 100 miles per hour in a 60 MPH zone in Strongsville, Ohio.
The incident happened just hours after the Browns’ first preseason matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte — a game Garrett didn’t play in.
The Late-Night Stop
Police say Garrett was behind the wheel of a gray 2014 Ferrari when he was pulled over around 2:00 AM.
TMZ Sports obtained the citation, which confirms the star pass rusher was clocked at 40 MPH over the limit. Officers issued him a ticket on the spot, and Garrett is now set to appear in court this Thursday — the same day the Browns are scheduled for a joint practice against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Not His First Speeding Headline
This isn’t the first time Garrett’s driving has made news.
Back in September 2022, the Browns captain was involved in a single-car rollover crash while driving 65 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Bodycam footage from that incident showed a mangled vehicle and emergency crews at the scene. Garrett walked away with minor injuries but admitted the experience shook him.
Other NFL Stars Facing Speeding Scrutiny
Garrett isn’t alone when it comes to offseason speeding drama. Shedeur Sanders, the Broncos rookie quarterback and son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, was cited twice for speeding earlier this year. Sanders later said he had “learned his lesson” about driving responsibly.
It’s a reminder that NFL players — despite being elite athletes — are still subject to the same rules of the road as the rest of us.
What’s Next for Garrett
Garrett’s court date could complicate his training schedule, depending on how the hearing unfolds. The Browns’ joint practice against the Eagles is a key part of their preseason prep, and Garrett is expected to be a central figure in the team’s defensive lineup for the regular season.
Neither Garrett nor the Browns have publicly commented on the incident as of Tuesday morning.
