Cam’ron recently opened up about two major collaborations he regrets not pursuing during the height of his career—the opportunity to work with Eminem and Nas. The Harlem rapper shared his thoughts during a conversation on his YouTube series, Talk With Flee, revealing that both artists were high on his list of dream collaborators when his career was taking off in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
“I wanted to do a record with Eminem when his career was taking off and my career with Dipset was taking off,” Cam’ron admitted. He described Eminem as “super-duper lyrical” and said that he felt he could bring his own lyrical prowess to the table for an exciting collaboration. “I can be super-duper lyrical. I dumb a lot of my shit down for my audience, but I thought that would have been a sensational record,” he added.
As for Nas, Cam’ron expressed similar admiration, saying he would have loved to work with the iconic Queens rapper at one point. “Nas would be the other person I would have loved to work with at one time,” Cam’ron said, reflecting on how significant a collaboration with Nas would have been for his career.
Despite never having worked together in the studio, both Cam’ron and Eminem are reportedly involved in Happy Gilmore 2, where they will make appearances. Cam’ron posted an update on Instagram, sharing a photo of his team and writing, “Put the whole team in da movie. #HappyGilmore2.” This film project could serve as a new kind of collaboration between the two, albeit in the comedic realm.
In the same update, Cam’ron expressed his admiration for Eminem’s skills, praising him as one of the best in the rap game. “Is Eminem one of the best rappers? Yes, Eminem is one of the best rappers,” Cam’ron stated. He went on to acknowledge Eminem’s success, commenting on how the rapper’s unique approach to words works for him, leading to massive wealth, Grammy wins, and a lifestyle that requires Eminem to be constantly shielded by a large entourage.
Eminem’s appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 has already been noted by insiders, who praised his strong comedic abilities. “Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with,” one insider revealed, adding that the Detroit rapper was “just super low key” on set.
Though their musical paths never crossed, Cam’ron and Eminem may be finding a way to work together in the film industry, which fans will likely be excited to see. Despite the missed opportunities, Cam’ron’s candid reflections on these potential collaborations reveal the respect he holds for both of these legendary artists.
