Casanova, who is currently serving time behind bars, recently opened up in an interview with XXL about where he finds strength and inspiration during difficult times. When asked who motivates him, the Brooklyn rapper immediately pointed to fellow incarcerated artist Tory Lanez.

Tory Lanez as a Source of Strength

“Tory Lanez is my inspiration because he’s not giving up the fight,” Casanova explained. He commended Lanez’s unwavering resilience, particularly in the face of limited resources and adversity.

“He’s so strong because he has so little,” Casanova said. “And he’s really strong on his innocence. He’s saying that he didn’t do it.”

Questioning the Justice System

Despite the controversy surrounding Lanez’s case, Casanova questioned the accuracy of jury decisions, highlighting wrongful convictions in history.

“There’s a lot of cases where people went to jail for 25 years, and then proof came out that it wasn’t them,” he remarked. “What do they give you? Nothing.”

Admiring Lanez’s Composure

Casanova also praised Lanez’s strength after his conviction, emphasizing the difficulty of maintaining composure and fighting for justice post-sentencing.

“It takes a lot to go to trial, lose, and still stand tall, still fight, still be put in solitary confinement, and still keep it together,” he said.

Financial and Emotional Support from Lanez

In addition to providing emotional support, Lanez has also helped Casanova financially.

“I spoke to him for like two hours a couple of months ago, and he sent me money from the jail,” Casanova revealed. “He said, ‘Cass, I know you got money, but I got money, money.’ I said, ‘Alright, okay, big money.’ And he sent me some money. That dude is strong.”

Both Rappers Face Lengthy Sentences

Both artists are currently serving time for high-profile convictions. Casanova is facing over 15 years for racketeering and drug charges, while Lanez was sentenced to 10 years for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

As both rappers navigate their legal battles, Casanova continues to find motivation in Lanez’s perseverance, illustrating the bonds formed through shared struggles.
