Cassie is standing her ground against Sean “Diddy” Combs in their ongoing legal battle. As reported by TMZ, the singer has officially asked a judge to block a subpoena from Diddy’s legal team that demands access to her private writings and financial documents.
Diddy Requests Cassie’s Personal Memoirs and Bank Statements
The subpoena, filed by Diddy’s attorneys, seeks “all draft memoirs, autobiographies, narratives, diaries, journals or notes,” and any communication regarding plans to publish or threaten to publish such content. In addition, his team is asking for Cassie’s bank statements, claiming she once tried to sell him a book about their relationship for $30 million to keep it from going public.
According to court documents, Diddy refused the offer, and shortly afterward, Cassie filed a civil lawsuit in November 2023, accusing him of sexual assault and sex trafficking. The case was settled within 24 hours, but the legal drama continues.
Diddy Challenges 2016 Hotel Video Assault Footage
Meanwhile, Diddy’s legal team is now attempting to discredit the viral 2016 hotel surveillance video, which shows him allegedly assaulting Cassie. A forensic video expert, Conor McCourt—formerly of the NYPD—was hired to assess the footage. McCourt claims the video released by CNN and an iPhone-recorded version both have serious technical flaws.
“The CNN version appears to be sped up due to a process called transcoding,” McCourt noted, explaining that this can alter the frame rate, potentially affecting how events appear to unfold.
He also pointed to timecode discrepancies and visual distortion in the iPhone video that allegedly make Diddy look larger than in reality.
“A viewer does not know what happened during those numerous breaks in video,” McCourt said, concluding that “none of the available video files are accurate and reliable copies of the original.”
The Bigger Picture
Though federal prosecutors haven’t commented on McCourt’s analysis, they’ve previously confirmed possession of the original unaltered surveillance footage. Diddy has publicly apologized for his actions in the video but continues working to suppress its use in court proceedings.
Cassie’s motion to block the subpoena signals that she’s not backing down—and with the spotlight intensifying on this high-profile case, both legal teams are bracing for the next chapter.
