Ciara is officially back — and she’s proving that balancing motherhood, independence, and music is not just possible, it’s her superpower.
The Grammy-winning superstar sat down with the Associated Press to discuss her highly anticipated new album CiCi, her first full-length release in nearly six years, and her most personal body of work yet.
A New Chapter: The Release of CiCi
On August 22, Ciara released CiCi, an expanded version of her 2023 EP of the same name. The project serves as a follow-up to her 2019 album Beauty Marks and marks a major milestone — her first full-length project as an independent artist.
Back in 2017, Ciara launched her own label, Beauty Marks Entertainment, a bold move that gave her full creative control of her career. Now, with CiCi, she’s showing the world exactly what that independence looks and sounds like.
“It’s time. Honestly, I’ve been working on this album for almost five years,” she revealed. “I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, as they would say, into this project…”
Recording While Raising a Family
While creating CiCi, Ciara wasn’t just in the studio — she was also in full mom mode. The singer revealed that she gave birth to two of her youngest children, Win Harrison (born 2020) and Amora Princess (born 2023), during the album’s creation.
“I literally gave birth to two babies while I was making this project, too. So, a lot has happened,” she shared.
Fans praised her ability to juggle motherhood and music, pointing out that Ciara has been transparent about prioritizing her family while still making space for her artistry.
Five Years Away, But Never Gone
Although it’s been nearly six years since her last album, Ciara made it clear she wasn’t just “chillin’” during that time.
She emphasized that she was “always actively putting out music” and that stepping back was more about balancing her growing family with the creative process than stepping away from her career.
The wait, she promised, has been worth it. CiCi captures her evolution as both an artist and a woman who’s grown, leveled up, and embraced every phase of her journey.
Two Decades in the Game and Still Loving It
Ciara’s career spans more than 20 years, beginning with her iconic 2004 debut Goodies. Fast forward to today, she’s still dancing, singing, and inspiring millions — with the same passion she had as a teenager breaking into the industry.
“I have so much passion for it and I just feel so fortunate that 21 years later, from my first album Goodies to now, that I still have the same excitement I had as a little girl,” she said.
But she’s also honest about the possibility of walking away — if the passion ever fades.
“If I ever stop loving the process, I’ll stop,” she admitted.
Ciara on Success and Staying Grounded
For Ciara, success isn’t just about topping charts or pulling in accolades.
“Success to me is yes, putting out music. Being the best artist I can be, hopefully being known as one of the best to ever do it … But it’s not solely in that,” she explained.
She emphasized the importance of balance, of living life outside of work.
“People lose themselves because they didn’t live. I don’t want to be that girl – I’m not going to be that girl.”
It’s a refreshing perspective, especially in an industry where many artists struggle with burnout or sacrifice personal happiness for career milestones.
What CiCi Represents for Ciara
CiCi isn’t just another album — it’s a statement. It’s a reflection of Ciara’s evolution as a woman, an artist, and a mother.
The songs dive into themes of love, resilience, and empowerment, echoing her signature blend of R&B, pop, and dance — but with the added depth of an artist who has lived, loved, and grown through every beat.
It’s also a celebration of independence, with Ciara proving that she can stand on her own without a major label machine.
The Legacy of Ciara: Still Leveling Up
From her breakout hits like “Goodies” and “1, 2 Step,” to viral anthems like “Level Up,” Ciara has always stayed ahead of the curve. She’s not just a performer; she’s an innovator whose music continues to soundtrack moments of empowerment, joy, and resilience for fans worldwide.
And now, with CiCi, she’s entering a new era — one that celebrates her past, embraces her present, and builds her future entirely on her own terms.
🔥 TPR Takeaway: After six years, Ciara’s return with CiCi proves she’s not just back — she’s unstoppable. Juggling family, independence, and a 20+ year career, Ciara continues to inspire a generation with her music, her strength, and her message: love what you do, and live while you do it.
