Cindy Sanyu, the renowned Ugandan singer, has confidently stated that no artist has ever filled up the Lugogo Cricket Oval as she did during her 2020 Boom Party Concert. Despite the impressive concert successes of other artists like Sheebah Karungi and Winnie Nwagi at the same venue, Cindy maintains that her 2020 performance remains unparalleled.
In a recent live TikTok broadcast on Monday night, Cindy declared, “Nobody has achieved my numbers as yet, take it or leave it.” She further emphasized that while artists like Winnie Nwagi might have drawn larger crowds than Sheebah at their respective concerts, Cindy’s Boom Party Concert remains the benchmark in terms of attendance at the iconic venue.
Cindy’s Top Spot in Concert Attendance Rankings
When asked to rank the top five artists with the most sold-out concerts at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Cindy placed herself at the top. She also expressed her frustration with artists who, according to her, manipulate social media images to make it appear as though they have drawn bigger crowds than they actually did.
“Often, artists edit out photos and videos when posting on social media and make it seem like they have the biggest crowds at Lugogo Cricket Oval, when in reality, it’s not the case,” Cindy explained.
A Look at the Competition
While Cindy holds firm to her claim, she also acknowledged the massive turnout at concerts by other leading artists in Uganda’s music scene. She mentioned that other top performers, such as Jose Chameleone, Spice Diana, Winnie Nwagi, and Sheebah Karungi, have each held concerts at the venue that attracted substantial numbers.
Cindy’s assertion has sparked debate among music fans, with some praising her confidence and others questioning her claim. However, one thing is clear: Cindy Sanyu remains a major figure in Uganda’s music industry, and her 2020 Boom Party Concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval will long be remembered as a landmark event in the local music scene.
