Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins will not face criminal charges following an alleged altercation with a woman during a Florida ride last month. Prosecutors formally declined the case Thursday, citing a lack of evidence and no reasonable likelihood of conviction.
The Broward State Attorney’s Office detailed the July 8 incident, which reportedly began as a verbal dispute between Judkins and the woman over comments he made to his family. According to the attorney representing Judkins, the woman became physical first — slapping his hand and punching him during the confrontation.
“After he pointed a finger at her, she slapped his hand away, also punching him,” the attorney claimed in court documents.
Later in the incident, after the woman moved from the front passenger seat to the back, prosecutors said she allegedly continued kicking the seat and striking Judkins, prompting him to push back in self-defense.
While the woman provided photos of alleged injuries, prosecutors noted video evidence showed no visible signs of harm. Additionally, they questioned the credibility of the delay in reporting, as the woman did not contact law enforcement until July 12 — four days after the incident.
“The delay is problematic,” prosecutors wrote. “The victim was alone on numerous occasions without the defendant, had the ability and resources to make the report without his knowledge, but chose not to do so.”
Ultimately, the Broward State Attorney’s Office concluded:
“For the reasons set forth above, there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction, and this case is being declined.”
Judkins’ Next Steps With the Browns
Judkins, a second-round pick in April’s NFL Draft, has not yet reported to Browns training camp following his arrest related to the incident. Despite the legal matters being resolved, the team and fans are watching closely as the running back prepares to take on a key role in the offense this season.
As Judkins focuses on returning to the field, the ruling clears him to fully participate in team activities without pending criminal proceedings hanging over him.
