The legendary hip-hop duo Clipse is back with new music and some candid praise for a surprising fan: Tyler, the Creator.
In a recent chat with Ebro Darden at the Complex Shop, Pusha T and No Malice opened up about their highly anticipated album Let God Sort Em Out—produced solely by Pharrell Williams—and Tyler’s deep love for their catalog.
“As a fan of the discography, Tyler is the number one Clipster,” Pusha T revealed. “He can tell me things about albums and the time periods and everything, from production to raps, when it comes to Clipse albums.”
The announcement will excite fans eager for the album’s July 11 release, especially with Pharrell’s signature touch guiding the project.
🎙️ No Chad Hugo, But Still That Classic Clipse Sound
While Pharrell handles all production duties this time, longtime collaborator Chad Hugo is noticeably absent from the new project.
Speaking on Popcast, No Malice expressed that although Chad isn’t featured musically, the bond remains strong:
“Absolutely miss Chad. As far as you know, being on the album,” No Malice said. “But I’ll see Chad in the airport, in the street, at Buffalo Wild Wings… Whatever they got going on, just hope for the best for that.”
Pusha T echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the strength of the duo’s sound regardless:
“Everybody knows my favorite album is Hell Hath No Fury. Pharrell did that alone. That’s it. Chad’s my guy. I love Chad. Pharrell’s my guy, love Chad too. We’re brothers, we came up together.”
He added,
“When you say missing in the music, there is no missing in the music when it comes to the Clipse. And if it’s just P, it don’t matter—we find what we find.”
⚖️ Pharrell & Chad’s Legal Dispute Adds Drama
Earlier in 2024, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo were reportedly involved in a legal dispute regarding the rights to the Neptunes’ group name, adding a layer of complexity to the album’s creation.
Despite that, Pharrell remains the sole producer for Let God Sort Em Out, signaling a fresh chapter for Clipse while honoring their classic roots.
