Deion Sanders Sets Boundaries for Son Shedeur’s NFL Career
In a candid interview on the Tamron Hall Show on Friday (January 10), Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders once again made it clear that certain NFL teams are off-limits for his son, Shedeur Sanders, despite the young quarterback’s rising stock ahead of the NFL Draft. When asked about his preferred team for Shedeur, Sanders clarified, “It’s not about who I would like for him to play for. It’s a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for. So it’s not like that.”
A Father’s Protectiveness Behind the Scenes
Sanders, known for his no-nonsense approach both on and off the field, explained his reasoning by hinting at the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the NFL. “This is my profession. I know what’s behind the curtain. We ain’t got to get back there for me to understand what’s behind the curtain and what’s not prominent for my son. I’m not doing it,” Sanders said, stressing that he wouldn’t allow Shedeur to join any team that may not have his best interests at heart.
A Playful Response to the NFL Draft Question
When Tamron Hall followed up with, “And if he doesn’t listen to you?” Sanders responded in a humorous yet firm manner, “Who? No, you must mean the NFL team owners, not my son,” with the crowd laughing at his protective stance.
Shedeur Sanders is projected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, with his impressive performance at Colorado drawing national attention. His teammate, Travis Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy, is also expected to be highly sought after.
Deion Sanders Reflects on His Success and High Expectations
In the same interview, Deion Sanders discussed his philosophy of success, especially regarding his coaching career at Colorado. “I don’t want to sound brash or risk tipping this with arrogance, but I expect the best,” Sanders said confidently. “You know, I don’t expect leftovers. I expect the best and I don’t expect to come in second.”
He further elaborated on his approach to everything in life, from his endorsements to coaching, stressing that he puts his name behind only what he believes in. “So everything in life, I expect when I walked out here to change the darn temperature. I don’t do anything by chance,” Sanders added, underscoring his commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.
