Drake continues his tradition of generosity. During his first night at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Sunday (Feb. 9), the God’s Plan rapper shocked two lucky fans with a total of $45,000 in cash.
Drake’s Big Giveaways
Midway through his set, Drake spotted a woman in the crowd holding a sign that read “Adonis For President”, featuring the OVO owl and a Canadian flag. Clearly touched by the gesture, he responded with an unexpected gift:
“You’re showing a lot of love to my son, so on behalf of me and Adonis, we’re going to give you 25 grand.”
The crowd erupted in cheers as the fan received her unexpected reward.
Drake then noticed another sign reading, “Kiss Me, It’s My Birthday”. Though he couldn’t grant the request, he made sure she left with something memorable:
“It’s a tough read on the kiss,” he joked. “But what I am going to do is give you 20 grand and cover a birthday dinner for you and all your friends.”
Adding to the generosity, he extended an even bigger offer:
“If you want, you can come back to the show again. Both of y’all, if y’all want, we’ll get you tickets.”
A Pattern of Generosity
Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour has been filled with moments of kindness. Last year, he paid off a fan’s $160,000 mortgage during one of his concerts. His goodwill gestures continue as he returns to Rod Laver Arena for three more nights starting Monday (Feb. 10).
The Anita Max Win Tour will then head to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, before wrapping up on March 16 in Auckland, New Zealand.
New Music on the Horizon
In addition to his ongoing tour, fans can look forward to new music. Drake’s collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, titled $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, is set to drop on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14).
After a challenging 2024, which included a high-profile rap battle loss to Kendrick Lamar, Drake is returning to his R&B roots—a space where he has consistently delivered some of his best work.
Final Thoughts
Drake’s generosity continues to define his connection with fans. Whether it’s covering mortgages, handing out cash, or giving free tickets, the 6 God remains one of the most giving artists in the industry. As he prepares for more tour dates and new music, fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks.
