“Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson is facing a tough health battle — and according to his son Jase Robertson, things have taken a heartbreaking turn.
On a recent episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast (April 2), Jase gave a candid update on his 78-year-old father’s condition following his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and didn’t hold back:
“The No. 1 question I get everywhere I go is, ‘How’s your dad doing?’ Now, I’m just giving the blunt truth: I say, ‘Not good.’”
Health Decline Confirmed by Doctors
Jase first revealed Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis in late 2023. Since then, the beloved Duck Commander founder has reportedly experienced rapid health decline — compounded by a serious blood disease that’s worsening his condition.
“It is what it is at this point,” Jase said somberly, adding that while the family remains hopeful, they are also being realistic about the toll the illness is taking.
A Reality Star’s Legacy
Phil Robertson rose to fame as the outspoken, bearded patriarch of Duck Dynasty, the wildly successful A&E series that ran from 2012 to 2017. The show made the Robertson family household names and turned their business, Duck Commander, into a multimillion-dollar brand.
Earlier this year, A&E announced a Duck Dynasty reboot is in the works — but sources close to production confirmed that Phil was not expected to participate, even before his health struggles.
This decision may also stem from past controversy — as many fans remember, Phil was suspended from the show in 2014 following a highly controversial interview with GQ Magazine, where he made homophobic and racist remarks that sparked widespread backlash.
The Family Stays Strong
Despite the challenging diagnosis, the Robertson family remains united and open with their fans. The Unashamed podcast has become a space for the family to share personal stories, faith, and updates about Phil’s health journey.
While Phil may no longer be in the spotlight, his legacy — both as a television icon and a controversial public figure — continues to stir strong emotions among fans and critics alike.
