New details have emerged in the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder. Senior-level FBI officials told Fox News Digital that Tyler Robinson, 22, shared an apartment in Saint George, Utah with his romantic partner, a male transitioning to female.
Officials emphasized that Robinson’s partner is fully cooperating with investigators and was reportedly unaware of any assassination plans. The partner is not facing any charges in connection with the attack.
One FBI official said the partner has been “extremely cooperative”, providing key information that helped agents zero in on Robinson.

How the FBI Tracked Robinson
According to the FBI, text messages and other communications between Robinson and his partner were instrumental in locating him. Investigators seized computers and other evidence from the apartment, which has been sent to Quantico for review.
The apartment is in the same southern Utah community where Robinson’s parents live, roughly four hours away from Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot on September 10, 2025.
The Assassination and Manhunt
Authorities believe Robinson fired a single shot from a rooftop roughly 200 yards from the campus, killing Kirk, who was 31 years old and a married father of two.
Moments before the attack, an audience member reportedly asked Kirk:
“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?”
Kirk replied: “Too many.”
He was then asked about mass shooters in general, before Robinson allegedly took the shot that ended Kirk’s life.
A law enforcement source revealed that Robinson’s father recognized his son from surveillance footage and ultimately turned him in to authorities, after a 33-hour nationwide manhunt directed by FBI Director Kash Patel.
The father reportedly spoke with a minister before contacting law enforcement, as Robinson expressed suicidal intent upon arriving at his home.
Anti-Fascist Messaging Found on Ammunition
Investigators also discovered ammunition inscribed with anti-fascist messages in the rifle believed to have been used in the attack. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed that one used casing and three unused casings were recovered, sparking questions about motive and ideology.
Preliminary reports from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) first highlighted the inscriptions, which investigators are now analyzing as part of the ongoing probe.

FBI Pledges Comprehensive Investigation
An FBI spokesperson stressed that the bureau is pursuing every lead, tip, and connection, stating:
“Every connection, every group, every link will be investigated and anyone involved in this matter, anywhere in the world they might be, will be brought to justice.”
The Aftermath for Charlie Kirk’s Family
Following Kirk’s death, his widow pledged to continue his work, as authorities piece together the full scope of Robinson’s actions and motivations. The investigation continues to unfold, with law enforcement focusing on digital evidence, firearms analysis, and witness statements.
