One of the men linked to last month’s deadly car bombing at a Palm Springs fertility clinic has been found dead in federal custody—and the circumstances are raising serious questions.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, Daniel Park, who was accused of supplying chemicals used in the bomb, was discovered “unresponsive” inside Los Angeles’ Metropolitan Detention Center on Tuesday. Despite efforts by staff to revive him, Park was declared dead at the scene.
At this time, the exact cause of death has not been revealed.
💣 The Attack That Shocked California
On May 17, 2025, a car bomb exploded outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, shaking the normally peaceful desert city and injuring four people.
The man believed to be the primary attacker, Guy Edward Bartkus, died in the blast. He was reportedly behind the wheel of the bomb-rigged vehicle when it detonated.
Authorities later described the incident as a “deliberate act of terrorism.”
“This was an intentional act of domestic terrorism,”
— Akil Davis, FBI Assistant Director (Los Angeles Field Office)
⚠️ Who Was Daniel Park?
While Bartkus carried out the actual bombing, Park was allegedly the key supplier of the explosive material. Federal prosecutors charged him with providing 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate, a highly volatile compound often used in large-scale explosive devices.
That’s the same type of chemical used in infamous attacks like the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
🧬 Anti-Natalist Beliefs and a Deadly Mission
Investigators believe Bartkus was motivated by radical “anti-natalist” ideology—a belief system that opposes human reproduction. He reportedly left behind writings criticizing pro-life and fertility practices, calling for an end to procreation altogether.
While the clinic building suffered structural damage, no embryos or sensitive biological materials were harmed in the explosion, according to officials.
⚖️ Now What? DOJ and FBI Stay Silent
With Park’s sudden death behind bars, the federal case may never make it to trial—leaving many questions about the scope of the conspiracy and possible additional suspects unanswered.
Neither the Department of Justice nor the FBI has commented publicly about Park’s death or what led up to it. Authorities have not confirmed whether foul play or suicide is suspected.
🔍 Ongoing Investigation or Dead End?
Park’s death inside federal custody adds a chilling layer to a case already charged with ideological extremism, violence, and unanswered questions.
As of now, the FBI and DOJ are continuing their investigation, but with both suspects now dead, some are asking: Was this truly a two-man operation—or just the beginning of something bigger?
