GloRilla made a powerful mark at the 2025 BET Awards, not only electrifying the stage with her live performance but also walking away with one of the evening’s most meaningful honors.
The Memphis rapper delivered a show-stopping medley, joining forces with Keyshia Cole for a dynamic performance of their collaboration “Typa.” Wearing a dramatic white fur coat, GloRilla opened the set seated at a grand piano, surprising the crowd when Cole—perched atop the piano—broke into her 2005 hit “Love,” which is famously sampled in “Typa.”
The performance seamlessly transitioned into GloRilla’s solo track “Let Her Cook,” energizing the crowd and proving her range as both a performer and an artist.
GloRilla Takes Home First Gospel Award
In a heartfelt moment later that night, GloRilla accepted the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her song “Rain Down on Me” featuring Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music, off her 2024 debut album Glorious.
“It’s a blessing to get the Gospel award first because I owe it all to God,” she said during her emotional speech, according to Vibe.
She also revealed that she was initially nervous about asking gospel legend Kirk Franklin for a feature.
“I’m not gon’ lie, I was kind of scared to ask him for a feature on this song because y’all know how I be rapping,” she admitted. “When he said ‘yes,’ I was so excited. I had this song in the vault for so long.”
She went on to thank her family, close friends, and supporters who stood by her from the start.
