Actor Haley Joel Osment, once a household name for his role in The Sixth Sense, was spotted in public this week for the first time since his highly publicized arrest — during which he directed offensive slurs at arresting officers.
The 36-year-old actor was photographed walking his dogs around his neighborhood in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Osment kept a low profile in a casual outfit — sporting a Los Angeles Dodgers cap, dark sunglasses, a maroon polo shirt, gray jacket, and black pants — clearly attempting to fly under the radar after the recent controversy.
Arrest Video and Allegations
Last month, Osment was arrested in Mammoth Lakes for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine. Bodycam footage from the arrest showed a visibly intoxicated Osment berating officers, at one point calling them a “f**ing Nazi”* and allegedly using an anti-Jewish slur.
The footage quickly circulated online, sparking backlash due to the hateful language used during the chaotic arrest.
Osment Apologizes for His Behavior
In a public statement, Haley Joel Osment admitted he was “absolutely horrified” by his language in the video, claiming he was blackout drunk and unaware of what he had said until shown the footage.
He expressed deep regret, saying:
“I would’ve taken responsibility for my words sooner if I had known what I said.”
The actor also shared that he’s been going through a difficult period, citing the loss of his home in the Eaton wildfire earlier this year as a major source of stress. Still, he acknowledged that his circumstances “do not excuse” his behavior or language.
Back in Public — But Staying Low-Key
After weeks of staying out of the public eye, Osment’s recent dog-walking outing marks his first appearance since the arrest. Though he’s returned to public spaces, it’s clear he’s keeping a low profile — a stark contrast to his former fame as one of the most recognizable child actors of the early 2000s.
Whether this is the start of a redemption arc or just a step toward personal recovery, Osment appears to be navigating the fallout quietly — at least for now.
