Renowned Ugandan producer and singer Anko Ronie, born Ronald Matovu, has revealed how heartbreak became the driving force behind his thriving career.
In a candid story, Anko Ronie shared that his former mentor, producer Rinex, stole his girlfriend, an experience that profoundly changed his life.
“Every man has that one bad thing that turns out to be a huge inspiration,” said Anko Ronie. For him, that moment came toward the end of 2019 when he caught his girlfriend leaving Rinex’s house after a romantic encounter.
Though he had suspected infidelity, seeing it with his own eyes broke his heart. Despite the emotional pain, Anko Ronie kept his composure and continued working at the studio.
However, the betrayal lit a fire in him. Within just two months, he saved up enough money to purchase his own equipment and set up an independent studio. This bold move marked the beginning of his journey as a solo producer and artist.
Anko Ronie admits to being a “hopeless romantic” and a deep lover, making the betrayal even harder to bear. But instead of letting it define him, he used it as motivation to build a successful career in the music industry.
