Ice Spice is diving into Hollywood with her animated film debut, joining the voice cast of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, set to premiere in theaters this December. The news was confirmed by Deadline on June 9th, with Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon announcing new additions to the much-anticipated movie.
The Bronx-born rapper will voice a character alongside a star-studded cast that includes Regina Hall, George Lopez, Sherry Cola, and Arturo Castro.
From “Bikini Bottom” to the Big Screen
This project holds a special place for Ice Spice, whose 2022 breakout hit “Bikini Bottom” was inspired by the iconic SpongeBob universe. That track became a standout on her debut EP Like…?, which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.
Adding even more excitement to the announcement, Ice Spice will also contribute a brand-new original track to the movie’s official soundtrack. She celebrated the news on Instagram with a simple but excited: “yay!!!”
