The Westchester County Police Department confirmed that Mejia-Polanco was discovered inside her car around 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, on the eastbound side of the Cross County Parkway near the Broad Street exit in Mount Vernon. Authorities say she suffered fatal gunshot wounds, and the Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide.
