Franky Venegas, one half of the viral social media duo Island Boys, has been arrested in Florida on serious firearm and drug-related charges. The 22-year-old, also known as Kodiyakredd, was taken into custody on Sunday night and is currently being held at the Collier County Jail in Naples, TMZ reports.
Details of the Arrest
According to police records, Venegas was booked on two charges: possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and delivering/possessing/selling/altering a firearm with an altered serial number.
The arrest occurred at approximately 10 PM local time when a deputy in an unmarked patrol car noticed a yellow Corvette exiting a gas station in Naples. Authorities say the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, prompting a traffic stop. The Corvette, driven by a female, was initially flagged for having expired license plate tags, but upon further inspection, the car’s registration was confirmed as valid. However, the traffic stop quickly escalated into a more serious investigation.
Drugs and Firearm Found
During the stop, both the driver and Venegas were asked to exit the vehicle. Officers conducted a search and allegedly discovered a plastic bag containing pills on the passenger-side floorboard. Authorities identified the substances as Oxycodone 10mg pills (seven in total) and five Oxycodone and Acetaminophen pills. Venegas reportedly denied ownership of the pills but claimed he had a prescription for Oxycodone—though he did not have any proof with him at the time.
Further inspection revealed a brown handbag labeled “MGM” on the passenger-side floorboard. Inside, officers found a handgun that had been spray-painted blue, along with a clear plastic cut straw. Also inside the bag were credit cards bearing Venegas’ name. Notably, the gun had no visible serial number, a major red flag for law enforcement.
Additionally, a cut straw containing a white powdery substance was found in the vehicle’s center console, suggesting possible narcotics use.
Venegas Labeled as a “Gang Associate”
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office report classified Venegas as a “documented gang member/associate”, though further details on his alleged gang ties were not immediately available.
This latest arrest adds to Venegas’ troubled legal history. Over the past few years, he has faced multiple charges, including domestic battery, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Rise to Fame and Controversies
Franky Venegas, alongside his twin brother Alex (Flyysoulja), gained viral fame in 2021 with their hit TikTok freestyle, “I’m an Island Boy.” The duo quickly became internet sensations, amassing millions of followers for their unique look, heavily tattooed faces, and flamboyant personalities.
However, their rapid rise has been accompanied by a string of controversies and legal issues. Franky, in particular, has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, with previous arrests related to domestic violence and reckless behavior.
Despite their social media success, the Island Boys have struggled to maintain a stable career, often facing backlash and criticism for their antics. Their notoriety has made them frequent tabloid subjects, but this latest arrest could have serious long-term consequences.
What’s Next for Franky Venegas?
As of now, Venegas remains in police custody while awaiting further legal proceedings. Authorities have not disclosed whether he will be granted bail or if additional charges could be filed.
If convicted, he could face significant jail time given the severity of the firearm and drug charges. The possession of a firearm with an altered serial number is a felony offense in Florida, often carrying mandatory prison sentences.
The Island Boys’ representatives have yet to make an official statement regarding the arrest.
Public Reaction and Fallout
News of Venegas’ arrest has sparked a wave of reactions across social media. Fans and critics alike have weighed in, with some expressing concern for his future, while others see the arrest as an inevitable outcome of his reckless behavior.
The question remains: Will this incident mark the beginning of the end for the Island Boys’ career, or will they find a way to bounce back from yet another controversy?
For now, Franky Venegas’ legal troubles continue to mount, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the once-viral star.
