On Sunday (Dec. 15), Jamie Foxx took to Instagram to address recent rumors surrounding an alleged restaurant altercation that left him with stitches. In his post, the actor and comedian seemed to dismiss the incident, opting instead to focus on his positive mindset. The post, set against a black background with white text, reads, “The devil is busy…but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
Foxx continued in the caption, stating, “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that prayed and checked on me…” He went on to reflect on the challenges that come with fame, writing, “When your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright.” The post concluded with a heartfelt thank-you to his fans and a plug for his new Netflix stand-up special, What Had Happened Was. “Thank you to everyone who has watched and been inspired by ‘What Had Happened Was’… number 1 on @netflix. If you haven’t checked it out, please go check it out. It’s from my heart and my soul…”
The alleged altercation, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday (Dec. 10) at Mr. Chow’s in Los Angeles, gained attention after Foxx’s birthday dinner turned tense. Sources revealed that while Foxx was celebrating his 57th birthday with family, a group at a nearby table was being disruptive. Foxx reportedly asked the group to quiet down for the sake of his family’s comfort, but when they ignored him, someone threw a glass at his face, causing injury.
According to TMZ, law enforcement arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, though Foxx had already left the restaurant by then. Foxx’s representative confirmed to the outlet the following day, stating, “Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
Despite the incident, Foxx remains focused on the positive, using his platform to promote his latest Netflix special and share his gratitude for his fans.
