Jay-Z is turning up the heat in his legal battle against attorney Tony Buzbee, following the dismissal of a rape lawsuit filed against him earlier this year. The music mogul, who has been fighting to sue Buzbee for defamation since March, has just filed a new amendment to his lawsuit, outlining significant financial losses he claims were caused by what he describes as a “false, malicious lie.”
$200 Million in Financial Losses
In the latest court documents obtained by Live Bitez, Jay-Z states that he lost over $200 million in potential earnings as a result of the now-dropped lawsuit. The breakdown of these losses is extensive. Jay-Z claims he lost $20 million in sports and entertainment deals, a $55 million personal credit line, and a $115 million loan that ultimately fell through. According to the filing, “The full fee would have been many millions higher had the contract been performed.”
Impact on Roc Nation and Business Deals
Jay-Z’s legal team previously stated that the impact of the false accusations went beyond financial losses, affecting his business relationships as well. “Mr. Buzbee’s actions undermined my relationship, and my company Roc Nation’s relationship, with other businesses in the sports and entertainment space,” the documents read. Jay-Z claims that in the aftermath of the accusations, Roc Nation lost out on contracts that would have generated approximately $20 million annually.
TikTok Evidence of Malicious Intent
The new filing also targets the anonymous accuser, referred to as “Doe,” citing a TikTok video she allegedly posted. In the video, she lip-synced to a phrase saying, “You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to get an apology video out of me… f*** you.” Jay-Z’s team interprets this as evidence of “a shocking and reckless disregard for the truth that is both intentional and malicious.”
Accusations Against Buzbee’s Law Firm
In a further twist, Jay-Z’s team accuses Buzbee’s law firm of engaging in unethical practices, including allegedly editing Wikipedia pages to enhance Buzbee’s public image while damaging Roc Nation’s reputation. Buzbee quickly shot down these claims, calling them “laughable and super weak.” He added, “I don’t have anything to do with Wikipedia and haven’t looked at it in years.”
Ongoing Legal Fight
While the original rape lawsuit was dismissed in February, Jay-Z’s defamation case remains very much alive. As the legal battle intensifies, it’s clear that Jay-Z is determined to seek not only financial restitution but also accountability for what he believes to be a malicious campaign aimed at harming his reputation and business interests. Whether or not Jay-Z will see compensation for the claimed losses remains to be seen, but his legal team is making it clear that the fight is far from over.
