At a press conference held on Thursday afternoon at Papaz Spot in Makindye, Joanita Zachariassen, accompanied by her husband and son, shared the exciting news. She revealed that her successful journey in Scandinavia had given her the foundation to now focus on making a significant impact in Uganda’s music scene.
A New Chapter in Uganda’s Music Scene
“I believe I have achieved enough in Scandinavia, and now I want to do the same in Uganda,” Joanita Zachariassen explained. She expressed her excitement about the fresh opportunities that await her at home. Joanita’s music, known for its distinct blend of Afropop and Afrobeat influences, is something she believes will be warmly embraced by Ugandan music lovers.
“This is a big moment for me in my music career to have all of you out here to support me,” she continued. “I have made it on big stages in the diaspora, but I want to prosper back home as well. You always have to bring something new to the table when you return home, and I believe I have that.”

Joanita also took time to express her gratitude to her husband for his unwavering support of her decision to return to Uganda. “I spoke to my husband and told him I missed home. He was very willing and said he is ready to support me. He took a big step for us to move,” she shared.
She emphasized that her return to Uganda is not just about her music career but also about inspiring the younger generation. “It’s not easy, but he really believes in me. I am here to inspire the young people and everyone who sees me as an inspiration in many ways,” Joanita added.
