In a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Majors opens up about the aftermath of his highly publicized trial, his personal struggles, and his path to rebuilding his life and career.
The Creed star made headlines last December after being involved in a domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Following a public trial, Majors was found guilty of two counts of misdemeanor assault. Since then, both his career and reputation have taken a significant hit.
Reflecting on his journey, Majors admits that he has dealt with bouts of depression, but he now feels it’s time to take accountability for the direction of his life. “Am I going to fall into that narrative of falling apart, of self-destruction? Have a struggle, blame the world… Have a struggle, hate yourself. Have a struggle, deny everything. None of those narratives is beneficial,” he says.
The actor also discussed the trauma of his past, including experiences of sexual abuse from both men and women starting at the age of 9. “I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9,” Majors reveals, sharing how these experiences contributed to his struggles. “From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f*cked up.”
As part of his recovery process, Majors has engaged in therapy and reconnected with his pastor. He credits these steps, along with the support of his fiancée, actress Meagan Good, for helping him navigate the challenges he’s faced. “I’m glad to be reading scripts again,” Majors says, referring to his career comeback. He also teased an upcoming superhero project, though it’s not connected to either DC or Marvel.
