Footage has resurfaced of Vice President-turned-author Kamala Harris addressing a group of pro-Palestine activists during her multi-city book tour for her memoir, 107 Days. The protesters accused Harris of having “blood on her hands” over her stance on the Gaza conflict.
“People in our administration can tell you what my voice was in those rooms – in those closed rooms – in the Oval Office,” Harris responded to the demonstrators at the packed New York City venue.
She added:
“I was not [the] president. I couldn’t make the decisions, but I made my position clear.”
According to USA Today, the demonstrators were quickly booed by the crowd and escorted out. When a dozen more protesters showed up later, police were called to ensure order.
Harris’ Memoir, 107 Days, Reflects on Politics and Loss
Harris’ book, released in September 2025, chronicles her 2024 presidential campaign, her experiences after losing to Donald Trump, and the challenges she faced within the Biden administration and the Democratic Party.
The memoir has sparked attention for its candid take on political life, offering insights into the inner workings of the White House and the obstacles Harris faced as a trailblazing politician.
Stepping Away From Politics
Back in August, Harris appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for an extended interview, revealing her decision to step away from political life. While expressing her passion for public service, she noted that the political system is too “broken” for her to return.
Harris had previously been considering a run for Governor of California in 2026, but later decided against entering the race. When Colbert joked about her potentially eyeing the 2028 presidential election, Harris shared a light laugh before firmly stating:
“I don’t wanna go back into that system.”
She elaborated on her perspective:
“I always believed that as fragile as our democracy is, our systems would be strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles. And I think right now that they’re not as strong as they need to be. For now, I don’t want to go back into that system.”
Public Reaction and Political Impact
The footage of Harris confronting protesters highlights her continued presence in political discourse, even as she steps back from active office. Fans and critics alike have taken to social media to debate her stance on the Gaza conflict, her reflections on the White House, and her broader critique of American politics.
The incident also underscores the ongoing tensions between political leaders and activist groups, especially on polarizing international issues. Harris’ measured response—acknowledging her limits while affirming her positions—has been praised by supporters for maintaining composure in a tense moment.
What’s Next for Kamala Harris?
