It’s been three years since Kayla Nicole and NFL star Travis Kelce officially ended their on-and-off relationship, but the media still isn’t letting go — and Nicole has had enough.
During a recent appearance on the Second Wind Podcast, hosted by former track and field champion Marion Jones, the model and media personality opened up about the ongoing frustration she feels about constantly being referred to as Kelce’s ex.
Nicole, now 33, expressed how disheartening it is when her passion and work are overshadowed by headlines focused solely on her past relationship.
“It’s like, damn, girl, did you listen to anything?” Nicole said, highlighting the disconnect between her message and the media’s coverage. “I’m human, and I take it with a grain of salt now. One day, they’re going to have to stop calling me someone’s ex. I don’t know if that means I have to date someone else publicly, but they’re going to have to just let it go. Until then, I’m going to ride this off into the sunset.”
Despite her efforts to carve her own lane, Nicole is still frequently associated with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. However, she remains focused on using her journey to inspire other women who might feel overlooked or reduced by similar labels.
“If I can make [another woman] feel like she’s seen and understood — and if I can make it out of something like this — then that’s what my job here is. Other than that, I don’t care. I simply don’t care.”
On the positive side, both Kayla and Travis seem to be thriving independently — professionally and personally — as they continue to build their respective legacies.
