Keke Palmer Opens Up About Naming Son Leodis: “It Was Adorable”
Keke Palmer is shedding light on the sweet—and hilarious—story behind her son’s unique name, Leodis Andrellton Jackson.
In a new interview on Scott Evans’ Webby Award-winning show House Guest, the multi-talented actress revealed that her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson actually came up with the name while she was pregnant.
“Darius actually made his name,” Palmer said, laughing. “He wanted both our names, which is so crazy… That was him trying to put Darius and Lauren together, like ‘Leodis.’ It was too much, but I said, ‘Hey, let’s do it.’ It was adorable. I was pregnant, ya know, so anything went.”
Palmer—whose real name is Lauren Keyana—joked that Leodis sounds like he could have marched with Martin Luther King Jr., adding that she’s drawn to the “old-school energy” the name brings.
“It sounded like he was marching with Martin and them…” she teased, likening her son to Good Times character Michael Evans.
